Everyone starts moving about slowly, gracefully. Soon they are dancing slowly by themselves. They are on the path of the Sound Current, the Audible Life Stream Many mystics describe the bliss as being surrounded by a celestial symphony whose music flows day and night. The empowered soul is ever listening to enrapturing music, but it is not music of this world. It is not made by any instruments or human voices. It is a melodious sound that permeates the soul. This music emanates from God and reverberates as an inner harmony within all souls. It is uplifting and enrapturing. Like a siren's song, it keeps the soul ever captivated in its blissful harmonies. Scriptures of different religions are filled with references to this inner music of the soul. Maulana Rumi says: Rise above thy mental horizon, 0 brave soul, And listen to the call of Music coming from above. Hafiz says: An unceasing Sound is floating down from the heaven, I wonder how ye are engaged in pursuits of no avail. Dadu Sahib says: The Eternal Music thundered in the heavens And I tasted the divine Nectar. Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, says: Countless are the notes in the unending Melody, The charming sweetness whereof is ineffable indeed. And: The All-pervading Music is going on everywhere, In the heart of all, the Divine Music flows. Many people derive happiness from listening to the music of the world. People listen to the radio, buy audiotapes and compact discs, attend concerts, or create their own music. There are many sensations we may feel from outer music, such as joy, peace, excitement, or inspiration. But the music of the soul is an experience far beyond any we receive from listening to outer music. It is an enrapturing experience in which our soul is uplifted into spiritual realms. The bliss that fills the soul from listening to the inner musical vibration is many times greater than any worldly happiness. Once one listens to the music within, one wants to go on hearing it continually. Many who have listened to the music of the soul find that the outer music pales in comparison. They would much rather tune into the broadcast coming from their own soul than to any radio station in the outer world. (The Living Master, from: "Empowering Your Soul Through Meditation," Sawan Kirpal Publications) _____ This creative current, filling all space, may be likened to the electromagnetic waves of the radio. The receiving set is the human body, more accurately, the astral body within the physical. The receiving set, standing on your table, simply has to be 'tuned in' in order to receive the music. Each individual man or woman is a receiving set. As soon as he is tuned in by the Master, he [or she] is ready to receive "the pure white music" spoken of by Kabir. It then remains only to keep the instrument in proper order to go on enjoying this melodious bani. The entire body, and more particularly the mind and astral body, must be cleaned and purified and then attuned to the higher vibrations. After that, the music comes clearly. When one begins to hear it, he is filled with a great joy; for there is nothing in the world to be compared with it. The full chorus of a Handel, the sublimest strains of a Wagner, are all dull when compared with this bani. If we put into one composition all the values of a Bach and a Beethoven, let the harp and the violin, the pipe organ and the flute combine to interpret the music of all the Masters of music, even then you could not produce one minor chord of this sublime enchantment. It takes possession of the soul of the hearer; it re-creates him, and then he finds himself a citizen of a new world. (Julian Johnson, "The Path of the Masters," RS Books) _____ At each inner stage the Celestial Music becomes more and more enrapturing. When the soul hears this divine strain it gets magnetized and attracted to it with the result that the mind and senses are stilled, and the spirit rises up. (Sant Darshan Singh) _____ Shabd is reverberating in all universes seen or unseen. The human soul and the Holy Shabd are of the same Divine Essence. Those who develop their Inner Consciousness by regular faithful and accurate meditation can listen to this Heavenly Melody anytime they choose to do so. (Sant Kirpal Singh) _____ By hearing Shabd you become the treasure house of all virtues and talents. And by the same Shabd, you attain the status of a Saint, Guru and a perfect Faqir. By listening to Shabd, the blind find the Path. It is by the practice of Shabd, that you can cross the ocean of existence. By the practice of listening to that Shabd, your mind, Surat and intellect will be elevated, and you will come to know of the invisible, and gain knowledge of all the regions. (Swami Ji Maharaj) When you sit in Bhajan [listening for inner Sound with love and devotion], begin by attaching the mind and attention to the Sound that you hear first.......and keep the faculty of inner seeing and hearing directed upward to focus on where the Sound is coming from. Then attach the mind and attention to the Sound of the Bell, and next to that of the Conch. The soul will then gently savoir the bliss, and one day it will surely reach Sach Khand. Please do not be in a hurry. When the soul becomes steadfast in its love for the Sound, a bond is then forged with the Shabd-dhun. Thus step by step, slowly, slowly, the mind is tamed. One day you will certainly reach Sach Khand. Listen to the Shabd-dhun [the inner Sound Current] every day. By listening repeatedly, becoming purified, love and devotion for the Satguru will become fixed in your mind and soul. Thus one merges into That which he loves. So take the self out, my son, then only the Satguru, the doer of all worldly and spiritual activities, will remain. There is always grace and mercy upon you.
